I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Clearwater, Florida.
I get it, it is not easy to reach out for help when you are feeling so down.
It may be the tragic loss of a loved one, that leaves you in a dark foggy nightmare, hoping any second you will wake up and it will just be a bad dream.
Or, a disturbing event that has shattered your sense of safety and you don’t know how you can ever return to your once normal life.
It may be a diagnosis, that turned your life- upside down, it’s not fair, you did everything right! How could this happen??
Then again, it may be the discovery of an affair that has destroyed your trust, your sense of family and you wonder if your entire relationship was a lie. Your life may feel as if it has been obliterated with the shrapnel of so many lies.
It is an honor to be invited into an individual’s journey, to overcome the painful adversities, that none of us plan for in life. To be present, hold space for the raw emotions coming from the pain of tragedy. And, there is also the triumph of the brave one, moving forward to write a new chapter in your life story. Help, for hurting people.
I receive many questions about diagnoses and psychopathology; but, I believe it is important to understand a person’s full story before jumping to a diagnosis. You are unique, your family of origin, what events shaped how you see the world and people. Yes, I will ask you about your childhood, but unless we are exploring childhood maltreatment, neglect or abandonment, we don’t need to stay there.
My areas of specialty include EMDR Eye Movement and Desensitization therapy, trauma recovery, and challenging life transitions. Everyone needs support, at one time or another.
